Stop Struggling: Simple Inclusive Leadership Behaviors That Work

REVELATION:

Some of us might be tired of fighting for something that seems like basic humanity. DEI has been so demonized that some people fail to realize we’re talking about good leadership. Admittedly, sometimes, inclusion can seem over-complicated, which could contribute to the resistance we sometimes experience.  While reading, this article gave three practical tips for working on Inclusive leadership behaviors that will help in every area of a person’s life.

  1. Be Self-aware - Assessments, reflection, and coaching to recognize the limitations of a person’s perspectives.

  2. Be Curious - genuinely & authentically getting to know people and building relationships.

  3. Seek to Understand - Ask open-ended questions to understand more of another person’s perspective.

Who would object to that??? LOL!

REFLECTION:

Let’s start with some self-awareness questions. Ask yourself then journal the following:

  1. What are my core values, and how do they shape my actions?

  2. What patterns in my behavior have others pointed out?

  3. Are there assumptions I tend to make without questioning?

Please drop a note to let me know if this information has been helpful!
